Brings back some memories, although I was not in attendence (busy in Nam at the time) the groups and the people are from my generation.

Most notable have been:

Carlos Santana
Richie Havens
The Who (Roger Daltry and Pete Townsend especially)
Joe Cocker
Arlo Guthrie
Sly Stone
Janis Joplin
Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead)
Crosby, Still and Nash (Neil Young joined the group later)
Alvin Lee (Ten Years After)
Jefferson Airplane (starring Gracie Slick)

Last but far from least the incomparable Jimi Hendrix..

Lessor lights
John Sebastian
Joan Baez
Country Joe MacDonald

The late great Jimi Hendrix...

I saw Jimi in concert in early 1970 at a concert in Wiesbaden Germany while I was still in the Army and had done my tour in Viet Nam and had been shipped to Frankfurt Germany. Believe it or not I also saw Janis Joplin at the same concert hall a beautiful concert hall back then called The Jahrhundert Halle a month or so later..

A blast from the past..

It's amazing to me how many of those early players came from the San Francisco area....like so many MLB players today coming from the latino area of the world, it's amazing that one area produces so much talent , it must have been more than coincidence.

Rock on Wilheimer .

They/the bay area, used to have the Bammies(Bay Area Music Awards)every year.

It was cool but got redundant.

I remember Ansley Dunbar won best drummer and he said what can I say it;s my 3rd year in a row winning this.
